Update 7/11/2020: Second Street Began receiving donations on Wednesday, April 29, after a three-month shutdown due to COVID-19. Donations are now being received from 10am to 3pm weekdays. You can leave donations in the Second Street trailer in the parking lot. Staff members are not typically on hand to receive donations, but you can ring the doorbell on the side of the building if you need assistance. We are grateful for each item that is donated. Your generosity makes a difference in our local community and abroad.

The news was hard to hear. Government officials were enacting an "essential business" policy for Pennsylvania. Right away, we thought of those we serve — our customers, our community, and the ministry that supports orphans halfway around the world. We thought of the donations people were collecting, waiting to pass them on to make a difference. Not disputing the governor's difficult challenge, we know that "non-essential" isn't quite the word for us.
UPDATE March 27, 2020: Governor Wolf has added Lancaster County to the list of communities that need to honor the "Stay at Home" policy. Therefore, Second Street has temporarily closed its online store. Would you consider a donation toward Second Street's operational expenses? Click here. We all understand the unprecedented global challenge we face with the spread of COVID-19, and we’re doing our part in our local community. Second Street Shop is closed, at least until March 29. As a nonprofit, we know what this means for those we serve. But it is a shared experience for all of us — we're in this together. And we want to do what we can to keep people safe and well. While our store remains closed, we are willing to sell specific products online and arrange for a local pickup. If your employer has closed down and you have some free time on your hands, why not pick up a painting project? We held two Facebook Live events showing you the basics of painting with Dixie Belle Paint. While our store remains closed, we are willing to sell specific products online and arrange for a local pickup. Now, our full Dixie Belle Paint product line is available to purchase online while supplies last. You can schedule a pickup time during checkout. This will notify us to prepare your order in time for your arrival. We'll have it ready when you come — just be sure to have your confirmation printed or on your phone for pickup. We will also be adding furniture to our website. If there is a furniture item you are interested in seeing, you can contact us to arrange an appointment. We will be following social distancing guidelines and precautions when you come, and we appreciate your understanding. Because the store is closed, you will only be able to view and/or purchase the item you came to see. You will not be permitted to shop. You can purchase and take the piece with you .
You can also make the purchase online and schedule a pickup time in the checkout process. In this case, we will have your piece on the covered porch, ready for you within 15 minutes of your scheduled pickup time. We'll make sure it's protected if it's raining. Make sure you have the vehicle and appropriate help to load the piece yourself. For health and safety of our team, we will be unable to provide help to load your furniture. We will be adding furniture to our website daily, so check often, and tell your friends. Thanks for your support during this trying time. We will continue to "sell by appointment" until further notice. |
